Fold The Touch Panels of Smartphones Without Losing Functionalities

For several years, one of the most interesting challenges faced by technology brands has been to successfully achieve a system to fold the touch panels of smartphones without losing functionalities.
Folding Phone

The unknown Chinese firm Royole has presented FlexPai Thursday , a folding screen device that allows you to open like a book to stretch up to 7.8 inches, a size close to the tablet format .
This first flexible phone of these characteristics, which will officially arrive in December to the North American market, marks a new path in the sector.
Until a few years ago it was unusual for a mobile device to exceed 5 inches. As the industry has been enlarging the size of mobiles, the problems related to their portability have increased.  One of the recent solutions has been to reduce as much as possible the frames and edges of them, thus extending the touch surface while retaining a more compact size.
The next step is to achieve that the tablet format can be folded to be easily carried in the pocket of the pants. For this purpose, this peculiar technology firm, founded by researchers from Stanford University in 2012, claims to have created a "lightweight and flexible" screen for a mobile phone. This means that, once folded, it has the dimensions of a "normal" mobile, but with an excessive thickness.
Stretched, however, is a tablet of about 7.6 millimeters. According to its designers, it can double more than 200,000 times before breaking. Without being able to check it yet, the mobile a priori may represent a new trend or, as has happened on previous occasions, accumulate technical failures and fall into oblivion.
This has advanced the South Korean giant Samsung, which presented for the first time in 2008 a flexible phone prototype , and which is expected to be presented publicly next week. Apple has also patented its own flexible displays, as well as LG, one of the largest screen producers, or Huawei. This FlexPai runs a slightly modified version of the Android operating system in order to work in two different formats.
On a technical level, the terminal has quite high specifications that, on paper, can rival other rivals. It has dual rear camera of 16 and 20 megapixels. The device's engine is the Snapdragon 855 microchip, marked with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. There is a more advanced version of 8GB of RAM with and 512GB of storage. With a headphone plug and a USB-C port, the phone will cost between 8,999 and 12,999 yuan (1,141 and 1,648 euros).
